Yoga and Pregnancy

I am sure we have all heard about the importance about exercise and pregnancy. What have you heard about yoga and pregnancy? Below you will find a video that I found on YouTube about Yoga during the first Trimester. What do you think?

I wish I had half the energy to even do anything! I am always soooo tired. I know it's normal but it's so bad I can literally sleep all day. It's something I am going to talk to be dr about at my apt on Wed.

Starting in the first trimester as long as you have no history of injury, miscarriage or spotting it is fine, always check with your midwife or doc before. I did yoga before I was pregnant and chose to wait until my 2nd trimester to do prenatal yoga as I had some of these factors. I loved it and went on to do Mum and Baby yoga. Recommend it to all even if you never did yoga before. You can monitor and gauge your own ability and never push yourself. I was fortunate to have my ante/prenatal yoga class taught by my Douala and she incorporated breathing and birthing techniques into her class and as well we had open discussion every week on a subject such as breast feeding. She also would bring in guest speakers like lactation consultants, naturapaths or a baby sign teacher for example. She also taught the Mummy and baby class too where we would have open discussions in the class regarding baby issues. It was a great bonding experience with my baby. It was a HUGE social outlet for me and many of us still remain friends. The meditation part of the class was also beneficial. Make sure the person teaching the class comes with high level of credentials.

I love yoga, but the class I used to attend doesn't allow pg people to participate because of the positions they use. I have been unable to find a new class that I can participate in without paying an arm and a leg. I do a little of my own yoga at home, it is extremely relaxing for me. I wish I just had more energy to do it more often!

I didn't watch that video yet but I know yoga can be greatly beneficial during pregnancy! I am going to sign up with the local Y tomorrow to join in on their yoga classes, now that I am in my second tri and feeling better!

Thank you for the post Yatie. We are both trying to stay as active as possible but are both very tired at the end of the day.
