I got my weekly email from Baby Center. It talks about how much sleep a child need in the first 3 years at various stages. You can find a link to the article by clicking on the chart below.
We are about half away to being blessed with a newborn, do you think that these times are realistic? Any other suggestions in regards to sleep patterns?

YIPES! Abby is at 6 months and if we're lucky get's eight or nine at night. Her daytime naps are more of the 3 half hours and one 1 1/2 hour variety. (She has a need to take everything in, so getting her to sleep for extended periods at daycare is a stretch)
I would love an 11 hour overnight!
I sure need to learn a lot I had no idea about baby sleep patterns. I have talked to someone about feeding patterns. They felt that getting a baby set to a common feeding pattern is especially important. What are your thoughts?
Baby J is 2 weeks old and he can sleep a 3-4 hour stretch during late afternoon/early evening hours and about 2 hour stretches during the day. It's a crapshoot at night, sometimes he sleeps 2-3 hour stretches. Since he's caught a cold recently he is sleeping in shorter stretches to feed more often (because he is eating less per feeding).
Ben is 1 week old, and he sleeps I dare say almost 20 hours a day but i think its partly due to his jaundice. but overall he sleeps 2- 3 hours stretch as well. we are breastfeeding so there maybe a difference? my daughter was formula fed around 6 weeks and breastfed earlier and she slept thru the night once on formula, not sure if its the formula or just her since she slept thru the night ever since but at 16 months now, she wakes up at least once in the night. looking at the table though, my daughter sleeps way around 15 hours a day including naps.
