Happy Mother's Day

According to Wikipedia the history of Mother's Day is the following:

People in different countries celebrate Mother's Day on different days of the year because the day has a number of different origins. One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Mother worship — which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of gods and the wife of Cronus; was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March (March 15 to March 18). The Romans also had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though mothers were usually given gifts on this day.

In the United States, Mother's Day was copied from England by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War. Howe wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation. In the UK, the day now simply celebrates motherhood and thanking mothers. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.

Besides dining out what are the best gifts for Mother's Day?

I would just make sure that you enjoy spending time together as a couple. I would have gone out on more "dates" and gone to see more movies etc if I had the time back again. It was such an exciting time for us, that I think most of our conversations got around to the baby at some point. Really, when I got pregnant, I wondered what I ever did or thought about before, because every waking moment was preoccupied with the little bundle inside me.

So, sit back, relax, enjoy being a twosome for now, because the baby will be here before you know it. You can try to prepare all you like, but nothing really prepares you in some ways. Nurture your relationship with each other as much as you can, it is giving your baby a great start in life to come into a loving, nurturing family.

But the one thing we did was to enjoy the freedom we still had. We went out as a couple for dinner, out for the day to places you wouldn't take kids, go to the cinema etc. If you can have one last romantic weekend together for a while. It makes you appreciate the time together, just the two of you. Before you know it, the bubba will be here, so you will be making memories as a family rather than a couple. They will be just as wonderful but just different. So enjoy the now while you can.
